Frozen Tsunamis

On 2nd May, a big group of us were at the village of Sankri, Uttarakhand. We stood there, bracing ourselves against the cold, and took in the awesome panorama of majestic Himalayan mountains that surrounded us in all directions. For those of us in the South who are used to gentle rolling hills that occasionally dot the plains, the sight of these high mountains stampeding each other was nothing short of breathtaking. It was as though the earth has invaded the sky, with each mountain peak bearing over and higher than the one in front – like frozen tsunamis of earth and rock.
